Spring inspiration

Lately I have finished my internship and returned to school, but mostly I've been motivated to draw and study something as important as spring/summer 2011 or pre-fall 2011. Here are some of my favorites for the spring. I'm loving the colors and simple lines (like pretty much everyone at the moment).

I can't name any favorite collections really, but the pictures in this collage are from Christopher Kane, Dries van Noten, Prada, Proenza Schouler, YSL, Gareth Pugh, Helmut Lang, MaxMara, Jil Sander, Loewe, Lanvin, Hermès, Celine and Dior. Some of my favorite designers dropped out from this list, but I know for the autumn they'll be back :)

Dark spring coming with Haider Ackermann

I don't know what's going on in these outfits but I really really like it! Looks like origami, tuxedo and biker styles put together. And what best, style's completely suitable for winter as well!

Not all is lost

Still some hope for getting to see pieces of Alexander McQueen's art! The spring collection 2011 has been designed by his co-worker for 15 years, Sarah Burton, and has many familiar elements from Alexander's collections, developed further with a feminine touch.

In my opinion the collection wasn't coherent enough to match up with the artist's original work, but I'm positive Burton's gonna do a great work once she'll find a way to combine McQueen's style with her own.

Thumbs up for Sarah Burton and the legacy of Alexander "Lee" McQueen, the most inspiring designer ever lived!

Oh Alex, what did you do?

After seeing Alexander Wang's s/s 2011 collection I'm feeling dazed and confused to say the least. I mean, the guy is obviously a genius but this just... I don't know :D

some favorites

I really liked most of the collection with its multi-layered, almost architectural shapes. But I just can't imagine head-to-toe white outfits or candy wrapper/duct tape style fit in a normal, everyday wardrobe, not mine at least, for I'm such a slob :D I think almost everything he's done before has been something you could wear to any situation and place. This is something that'll take some time to settle in my mind. But I do feel like having got an inception - you'll see that by January I'm already obsessed with shiny pieces and a mental patient look...

Urbaaneja heimosotilaita vuodelta 2007

Mielessäni on jo jonkin aikaa kummitellut pitkäaikainen lempparini, Balenciaga by Nicolas Chesquiére Fall 2007 RTW -mallisto.

ps. Balenciagan tämän syksyn pastellisen malliston voi tarkistaa täältä.

pps. Huomaa catwalkilla Aavikon kukka -elokuvaa tähdittänyt, ihastuttava Liya Kebede!

---

I've been obsessed with the Balenciaga by Nicolas Chesquiére Fall 2007 RTW for a while now and tonight I finally gave in. It has been one of my favourite collections for years especially because of the amazing white tribal make-up and the fringed muticoloured and -printed scarves. I think this works still this season and am already craving the blue stockings along with a fitted blazer jacket ASAP.

ps. Check out the pastel coloured Balencuaga Fall 2010 collection here.

pps. Notice on the catwalk the lovely Liya Kebede who starred in the movie Desert Flower!
